I stumbled across Howard Mann’s free ebook, “Your Business Brickyard” last night, and after seeing so many ebooks which aren’t worth much at all, I found this one to be extremely helpful.
We all start our new business ventures with amazing energy, but after some time passes and what Michael Gerber refers to as the technicians trap, the sheen starts to were off our venture and we realize that we’re really still just an employee!
I read the entire thing last night! I recommend getting yourself a copy today!

I know what’s going through your head, what the heck is SEO, and why do I care? Well SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimization”, and in a nutshell it’s the optimization of your website in order to improve its ranking in search engine results.

I commute to and from “my paying job” each day via public transit so finding something like an ad in my windshield is nothing new. For some reason this ad in particular got me thinking. Exactly how the heck does the company that stuck this flyer on my windshield measure the overall success of their “campaign”? If you’ve read Michael Gerber’s E-Myth, then you know how important it is to measure everything you do.

I know what you’re thinking! Cliches, ugh! But this one just happens to be 100% true :) I have a few really great projects on the go right now, and some more coming down the pipe, so my time for writing on this blog has been neglected! Sorry about that and I appreciate the e-mails asking if everything is OK!
Look for the profiles and posting to get back on track next week - starting to get thinks under control again!
Boy, I am going to have a few things to say about time management ![]()
Protecting your digital assets

I was taught a very expensive lesson this afternoon, and wanted to pass the lesson I learned to my readers. I owned both the .ca and .com extension for the Procrastinating Entrepreneur until June 1, 2008. On that day, I lost my .com domain and was notified in a very friendly email that I could buy back the domain at what I can only assume was a tidy little profit for the other party. When I first realized what had happened I quickly got on the phone with my registrar to see if I had any recourse to get my domain back. To make a long story short through some technical problems and failure to act on a notification (on my part) there was nothing I could do - my favourite domain was now in the hands of someone else.
I quickly decided to purchase the domain back.
The moral of the story is simple - your domain name is a very important asset, and can also have some serious brand value attached to it. Protect it and make sure you deal with any issues concerning it’s registration right away. If you don’t you may find yourself in my position.
